Future of Web Apps (FOWA) day 1

FOWA

So the first day of Future of Web Apps is over, and me and Thomas have been inspired by some brilliant people with knowledge about what is coming. Some of the speakers delivered some kick-ass presentations and some of the others were so and so, but the overall impression is positive and good.

Some hightlights of the day:
Met Kevin Rose – my inspiration from Digg / diggnation – a truly humble and genuine guy that has agreed to give an interview to my videopodcast – which is awesome. He gave a good presentation, a 10 point list on how to take web app from 1 to 1.000.000 users.

FreshBook with Mike McDerment gave insight on how to make money on your website, and what to expect of users and revenue.

Francisco Tomalsky from 280North, presented Atlas; a visual development tool for creating web applications, awesome!

David Prager from Revision3 – gave an intense and animated presentation on how to; Get Niche, Rich, and go Mainstream. Visually cool presentation, from a Prager that was in the Zone!

the guy from PayPal – Osama Bedier – was the best storyteller of the day, and gave great insight for the future payment solutions

Also some great peeps were Bruce Lawson from Opera and Chris Thorpe from theGuardian – but it was a great finish with Aza Raskin from Mozilla giving us a preview of what’s to come within the world of browsers.

I also got a good connection with Ryan Carson, mr Carsonified himself, and will interview him as well tomorrow – but truly one of the best hosts I have ever experienced, open, helpful and approachable. Impressed. =)

Another highlight – on a personal level, was to meet up with May Dabus – a twitterfriend I have known since I started on this network. She is originally from Brazil, but is now living in Sweden. It was a true pleasure to meet her IRL and talk to her.

That’s it for today – now I need to get ready for the afterparty with the gang from FOWA – cheers from London!
