What is your company’s true purpose?

As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind of running a business. But it’s important to take a step back every once in a while and ask yourself: What is my company’s true purpose? Why do we exist? Answering these questions can be difficult, but it’s worth taking the time to think about them deeply.

Your company’s true purpose is the driving force behind everything you do. It’s the reason you get out of bed in the morning and come to work each day. It’s what motivates you to keep going when things are tough. And it’s what will inspire your employees and customers to believe in your vision.

So, what is your company’s true purpose?

There are a few ways to answer this question. One is to look at your company’s mission statement. What does it say? Does it articulate your company’s purpose clearly? If not, it might be time for a rewrite.

Another way to think about your company’s purpose is to ask yourself what problem you’re solving for your customers. What need are you filling? What pain point are you alleviating? Keep in mind that your company doesn’t necessarily have to be solving a “big” problem — sometimes the simplest solutions are the most powerful.

Finally, consider your company’s values. What do you stand for? What do you believe in? These values should guide everything you do, from the way you treat your employees to the way you interact with your customers

Why it matters

Defining and articulating your company’s true purpose may not be easy, but it’s worth taking the time to think about it carefully. Your company’s purpose is the driving force behind everything you do, and it should be something that you’re passionate about. Once you’ve determined your company’s purpose, make sure it guides everything you do — from the way you treat your employees to the products and services you offer. Doing so will help ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards a common goal.
